Purpose of the Event

Considering the recent good relationship between Japan and the Philippines, private exchanges are more active than ever before. In this environment, we have been aiming to promote further friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries through activities such as hosting various events. The recent Japan boom in the Philippines has been unprecedented. In addition, the introduction of foreign workers has been adopted, and it is expected that the number of workers from the Philippines, one of the world’s leading labor supply countries, will increase rapidly in the future. Therefore, noting that “HANAMI” (cherry blossom viewing) is widely recognized internationally, we have planned the “Japan-Philippines Friendship Sakura Festival 2025 in Ayase,” an event where Japanese and Filipino people can share a fun time together with the theme of “HANAMI”.This event is scheduled to be held from March 20 to April 6, 2025 at Higashi-Ayase Park (Adachi-ku, Tokyo), a public park of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The first part will be from March 20th to March 30th, where mainly Japanese food stalls will be set up to allow visitors to experience our country’s “MATSURI.” The second part will be from April 2nd to April 6th, where mainly domestic performers will perform on stage, and visitors will be able to experience the Philippines through Filipino food stalls.Recently, we held the “KANTAHAN AT SAYAWAN SA KAMEARI,” which attracted 16,000 visitors and literally had a great time. This time, we would like to further combine the traditional entertainment of cherry blossom viewing with the Filipino people, who are said to be the most festival-loving people in Asia.We will work hard to create a place for promoting goodwill and friendship between energetic Filipinos living in Japan and Japanese people who love the Philippines.
